Dentist Peer Reviews & Dispute Resolution
The Southern Nevada Dental Society’s Peer Review program offers a confidential, impartial process designed to resolve disputes regarding dental treatment. This service is available to both patients and member dentists and serves as a professional alternative to legal action or formal complaints. When a disagreement arises about the quality or appropriateness of dental care—and resolution between patient and provider seems out of reach—dentist peer reviews provide a fair and effective path forward. Our Peer Review Committee is made up of experienced general dentists who are well-qualified to assess cases based on established standards of care. When a complaint is submitted, a committee member will begin by reviewing the issue, facilitating open communication, and attempting mediation. If necessary, the committee will conduct a full review focused on treatment outcomes, quality of care, and clinical appropriateness. This process not only helps protect the integrity of the profession but also strengthens trust between dental providers and the public. Whether initiated by the patient or the dentist, dentist peer reviews offer a valuable opportunity for resolution without escalating to state board complaints or litigation. Timeliness is critical. The sooner a complaint is brought to the Peer Review Committee, the more effective and accurate the review will be. Delays can impact clinical evidence and reduce the likelihood of a satisfactory resolution. If you are a patient or dentist seeking to initiate a peer review, please contact SNDS at (702) 793-4455. A Peer Review Coordinator will guide you through the next steps and ensure the process remains respectful, efficient, and confidential.
